(THREE RIVERS) – A man wanted following a stand off Tuesday in Three Rivers has been arrested.
Three Rivers Police Chief Scott Boling says the man was arrested on an outstanding warrant along with an additional felony charge at 9:46 AM Wednesday.
Tuesday morning, the Three Rivers Police were assisting the Centreville-Constantine Police Department in serving a search warrant at a house in the 500 block of Ninth Street near East Buck Street to search for stolen property.
Officers say there were 15 people at the house, ten of them that lived there and five others who exited the dwelling. Several of the individuals told officers that the suspect was inside and armed with two guns.
The St. Joseph County Special Response Team along with other police agencies were activated in an attempt to apprehend the individual, who had previous run ins with police. While SRT members were clearing the house, they were told about illegal drug use at the residence.
Three Rivers Police received an additional search warrant and located multiple guns, narcotics and a large amount of marijuana. However, the suspect was not in the house.
Following a search that went through the overnight hours finally ended Wednesday morning when the suspect was found and taken into custody.
The matter is still under investigation and additional charges may be sought by law enforcement.
