(STURGIS) – A suspect has been apprehended in a series of vehicle break ins.
The Sturgis Department of Public Safety Police Division was contacted in the early morning hours on Friday about a larceny from a motor vehicle on the north side of the City. Officers also discovered several more vehicles had been broken into.
As officers continued to search the area, they located subjects matching the description of those who had been seen at the first incident in the act of another vehicle break in. The subjects fled the scene, and officers were able to locate and apprehend a juvenile from the South Bend area.
It’s believed that these same individuals were involved with the theft of a motor vehicle from the 600 block of Cheshire Drive.
The Sturgis Department of Public Safety received several more calls throughout the day about larceny from motor vehicles around the City. They believe the same individuals are responsible and officers are continuing the investigation.
If anyone has information about these crimes, they are asked to contact St. Joseph County Central Dispatch at 269-467-4195.
