Jobless Rate Increases In Michigan During November

(LANSING) – Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate went up during the month of November.

Figures released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget shows that the State’s unemployment rate went up from 4.6% in October to 4.8% in November. Employment fell by 7,000 over the month, while unemployment rose by 9,000, resulting in a workforce gain of 2,000 since October.

Job increases were seen in Leisure and Hospitality Services (+.6%); Government (+.3%) and Total Nonfarm Payroll Jobs (+.1%).

Wayne Rourke, Labor Market Information Director for the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics says payroll jobs went up in November, the third month in a row to show positive job additions.

In November 2023, the unemployment rate in Michigan was 4.1%.
