Trial For Paige Bohne Could Be Delayed
Friday, December 20, 2024

(CENTREVILLE) – Bond has been denied for a Sturgis woman arrested for the alleged murder of her two year old child.

In addition, her trial may be postponed.

St. Joseph County Circuit Court officials say a bond request for 21 year old Paige Bohne was denied by Judge Paul Stutesman. He says the charge of open murder against Bohne, along with some of the alleged circumstances surrounding the case lead him to make that ruling.

On November 7 at 12:47 PM, the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office and medical first responders were sent to the Memory Lane Trailer Park on West U.S. 12 for an unresponsive two year old inside the residence. Attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful, and the child was pronounced dead.

The St. Joseph County Major Crimes Task Force was activated and as the investigation progressed, Bohne was taken into custody on a charge of involuntary manslaughter, which was later amended to open murder.

Bohne’s trial was originally scheduled to start on January 14. However, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office that additional evidence is being sought, which includes toxicology reports of both Bohne and the child; an autopsy report; Bohne’s cell phone data along with information from the phone of Bohne’s apparent significant other.

It’s not certain when the trial will begin.
