(LANSING) – Unemployment dropped around Southern Michigan from February to March.
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget says St. Joseph County had a decrease in unemployment from 5.8% to 5.5% over the month.
The biggest drop in unemployment was in Cass County, going from 6.3% to 5.7%. Hillsdale County fell from 6.4% to 5.9% and Branch County went from 5.4% to 5%.
Statewide, the unemployment rate saw a slight decrease, from 6% to 5.7%.
The lowest unemployment rate in Michigan during March was Livingston County, which saw a drop from 4% to 3.9%. The highest unemployment rate was Mackinac County at 22%, down from 23% in February.
