(STURGIS) – The Sturgis Department of Public Services has announced their Spring brush and leaf pick up schedule.
DPS crews will start picking up brush for 2024 on Monday, April 1. They will begin on the north side of the city and work their way south. Weather conditions and the amount of brush will make it difficult to stick to a strict schedule.
With that in mind, it is necessary to have your material on the terrace for pickup, and crews will get to them as quickly as they can.
DPS crews will only be making one pass through the City. If you miss this brush pickup, the crews will be back out during the first full week of May and again the first full week of October.
Materials must be neatly stacked on the terrace away from objects or obstructions such as power poles, sign posts and guy wires. There will be a limit of one truck load of material per parcel that will be collected and hauled away. Limbs, branches or brush material that is larger than 4 inches in diameter, or longer that 8 feet will not be collected.
No grass clippings, roots, thorn bearing branches, tree trunks, stumps or construction material will be collected.
The Compost Site will be open for the 2024 season on April 2. Hours from April to October will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 PM to 7:30 PM; Saturdays from 9 AM to 5 PM and Sundays from 1 PM to 5 PM.
