(COLDWATER) – A threat made against Coldwater Community Schools is not credible.
Coldwater Superintendent Paul Flynn posted a letter on the school’s website, saying that Thursday night, some students in a group Snapchat received an anonymous post with what could be considered a threat to student and staff safety.
Flynn says the students were right in contacting District administrators with this information. School leadership then contacted the Coldwater Police Department who launched an investigation, and determined there was no credible threat.
In the letter, Flynn says there has been an increase nationwide of vague posts on social media to increase anxiety and potentially disrupt school operations. He says Coldwater Community Schools investigates every situation seriously with the cooperation of the Coldwater Police.
Flynn says Coldwater Schools will operate on their normal schedule, and he encourages parents and guardians to talk to their children about the serious nature of making such statements in today’s society and the potential consequences. He also encouraged them to do the right thing and report any suspicious activity to school personnel immediately.
