(UNDATED) - The Michigan State Police and Indiana State Police are once again participating in a national initiative.
All 31 of the MSP posts will be open Saturday as part of the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which will run from 10 AM until 2 PM. In Indiana, all ISP posts will be open as well, with the exception being the Toll Road Post.
Saturday is an opportunity for citizens to safely dispose of any expired and unused prescription pills. All collected pills will be destroyed with no questions asked. Liquids, inhalers, patches and syringes will not be accepted.
Colonel James F. Grady II, Director of the Michigan State Police says proper disposal of unused or expired prescription medication helps prevent misuse, protects the environment and keeps communities safe. He says taking a few minutes to clear out your medicine cabinet and properly dispose of expired and unused pills can make a real difference in preventing prescription drug abuse.
Anyone unable to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day can anonymously surrender prescription drugs at any MSP post, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM, excluding holidays.
