(BURR OAK TOWNSHIP) – The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal hit and run.
Sheriff Chad Spence says deputies were called out just after 7 AM Sunday to the area of U.S. 12 and Burr Oak Road in Burr Oak Township for a report of an unresponsive individual located on the roadside.
Emergency personnel determined that the individual was deceased. The preliminary findings indicate the subject, identified as 21 year old Kayden Gruver, was struck by a vehicle.
Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle involved, which is believed to be a 2007-2015 GMC Sierra or Chevrolet Silverado pick up, with front-end passenger side damage.
Spence says they are also requesting that anyone who had contact with Gruver on the evening prior to or the morning off the incident come forward. Additionally, residents and businesses in the area are asked to review any available camera or surveillance footage from the time of the incident.
Anyone with information is urged to contact St. Joseph County Central Dispatch by calling 269-467-4195.
Assisting at the scene were Burr Oak Fire And Rescue, Michigan State Police and Life Care Ambulance.
