(STURGIS) – The Sturgis Electric Department is close to having all of the power outages restored from Sunday’s storm.
Sturgis City Manager Andrew Kuk says crews have the outages down to 100 customers as of 12 PM. The majority of the remaining outages are small clusters of a few homes or individual house outages. The goal is to have power restored throughout Sturgis by the end of the day.
Kuk says to reach that goal, customers who have downed lines running from their home to the pole and experienced damage to the masthead or meter on their house will need to have an electrician repair these elements prior to power being reconnected. City crews are making contact in person or with orange door tags to attempt to identify those properties where an electrician is needed for service to be restored. Customers who require these repairs are asked to contact the outage line at 269-659-7255 and leave a message once the repair has been completed so crews can be scheduled to reconnect service.
Kuk says the City and the Electric Department want to thank their customers again for their patience as the work to restore service continues. He says crews have been working since Sunday afternoon to address these issues and will continue to do so as quickly as possible until all customers have power.
