Wednesday, August 27, 2025

(CASSOPOLIS) – A man has entered into a plea agreement for allegedly concealing a tree.

The Cass County Prosecutor’s Office says that long time felon Trevor Wallace was set to go to trial on Tuesday on a felony charge of concealing stolen property over $1,000, habitual third offense. The property was a fully mature walnut tree, valued at approximately $2,000.

Moments before the jury selection was to begin, Wallace entered a guilty plea to the charges.

Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz says the current plea is Wallace’s tenth felony conviction to go with two misdemeanor crimes on his record. His double-digit felony count covers almost two decades and includes three prior home invasions, a breaking and entering conviction and an offense of possession of burglary tools. Other convictions include resisting police officers and at least one drug crime.

Wallace is scheduled to be sentence on October 10 at 8:30 AM in Cass County Circuit Court. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
