(STURGIS) – The City of Sturgis will be receiving money from a recent opioid settlement.
Wednesday Sturgis City Manager Andrew Kuk says a settlement was reached with the Sackler Family and Purdue Pharmaceutical related to opioids. He shared that the State of Michigan has chosen to participate in the settlement, and communities have the option to participate as well.

Monies from the opioid settlement can only be used for certain purposes according to Kuk.
The Commissioners voted unanimously to have Sturgis opt-in to receive the funds. Kuk also shared that he has received information on another settlement opportunity, and will bring that information to the Commissioners during a future meeting.
