(INDIANA, MICHIGAN, OHIO) - Kroger has recalled two of its deli products due to possible contamination with Listeria, according to a company announcement released over the weekend.
The recall affects Basil Pesto Bowtie Salads and Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salads sold at deli counters and in prepackaged portions in self-service cases. The products were distributed in 1,860 stores across 28 states, including Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
No illnesses have been reported in connection with the Kroger recall, but listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. It can also lead to miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.
Customers who have purchased the recalled products should not consume them and should return them to the store for a full refund or replacement. Customers with questions can contact Kroger at 1-800-KROGERS.
