(KENDALLVILLE) – The former Athletic Director for the East Noble School Corporation has been arrested after allegedly taking money that he wasn’t due to get.
Noble County Court officials say that Nicholas David was arrested November 13 on felony charges of theft between $750 and $50,000 and official misconduct of a public servant.
The East Noble School Corporation initially investigated David and put him on administrative leave in October 2023 after they found out he had been faking mileage reimbursements. It’s alleged that David forged nearly $5,000 in mileage reimbursements he received while Athletic Director.
The Indiana State Board of Accounts completed their investigation which showed that David had requested and received mileage reimbursements for sporting events that were canceled; sporting events that East Noble High School did not have a team competing at; sporting events and meetings that did not occur; home sporting events; sporting events during times when David was at East Noble High School; trips to Sam’s Club where no purchases were made; and meetings that were not on record.
Due to this investigation, David later resigned, resulting in East Noble Schools to seek not only reimbursement of the mileage but the cost of the investigation that was done.
David has been released on bond and has a pretrial conference set for January.
