No. 7 Mendon falls to No. 4 Deckerville 49-32 in 8 Man semfinals
(DECKERVILLE) – After a close first half, host Deckerville pulled away in the final two quarters as the No. 4 Eagles beat No. 7 Mendon 49-32 in their 8 Man Division 1 State Semifinal game. The Hornets ground game was kept in check for most of the contest, but they found success through the air. Ryder Gorham, Cam Bingaman and Mason Wilczynski were a combined 13 of 21 for 251 yards and 4 TD’s. Gorham threw for 209 yards and 3 TD’s while Bingaman found Brayden Crites for a 74 yard score in the fourth quarter. Crites finished with 3 touchdown receptions on the day. LINKC. JT Lux had 13 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown along with a TD reception. LINKD. Owen Gorham had 15 carries for 43 yards. Deckerville’s Hunter Garza had 25 carries for 228 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also was 6 of 8 for 69 yards and 2 more TD’s. Xavior Zinsmaster led the Mendon defense with 11 tackles. Zach Iobe had 7 tackles while Lux and Bingaman each had 5 tackles. Mendon ends the 2024 season at 10-2. Deckerville improves to 12-0 and will take on No. 3 Pickford in the 8 Man Division 1 State Finals, after Pickford beat No. 2 Indian River Inland Lakes 34-18.
